On 23rd May, we held a meeting for our UN Global Compact Czechia members in P3 Logistic Parks. Representatives of P3, EY, Deloitte, D21 and Netherlands-Czech Chamber of Commerce were present among others. The main goal of the meeting was to share experience with preparing and implementing sustainability strategies. The P3 company specialises in building and managing logistic properties across Europe, in an enviromentally friendly and sustainable manner. The P3’s priority is construction corresponding with global standards for energy efficiency and sustainability. Following their sustainability strategy presentation and feedback from our members, we’ve continued the discussion informally over wine.
On 26th February, our Global Compact members T-Mobile and Národní síť zdravých měst hosted a conference aimed at sustainable cities. . The audience mostly consisted of the Global Compact members, interested public and local government representatives from small and mid-sized towns all across Czechia. The presenters talked about the concept of sustainable cities and the steps that can be adopted on the local level, insights on what are the issues and obstacles when implementing sustainable measures, as well as what should be our main priorities in this area. T-Mobile then offered futuristic concepts of smart cities, based on the actual innovations that T-Mobile is implementing throughout Europe. On 22nd November 2017, in cooperation with Deloitte we held the Non-Financial Reporting Workshop. Lenka Neuvirthová from Deloitte commenced the workshop with a presentation regarding corporate social responsibility and provided useful information about non-financial reporting. Professor Zuzana Dvořáková from Economic University in Prague introduced the RECESERA Project focused on reporting and monitoring corporate social responsibility. Lucie Mádlová from the Association of Social Responsibility then spoke about the implementation of SDGs in the Czech Republic. In the final part of the workshop, participants were given an opportunity to expand their understanding of the discussed topics and learn about the „best practices“ from field experts during a speed dating session.
On October 24th 2017, the World Development Information Day, Vodafone in cooperation with UN Global Compact organized a Sustainability and Technology Workshop. First, Adriana Dergam from Vodafone introduced the concept of „ the Internet of Things“. Other speakers followed on this topic using their case studies focused on sustainability and technology. The workshop enriched the participants´ views on both the benefits and setbacks of technology with regards to global sustainable development and offered some solutions that will hopefully be implemented on a bigger scope.
Members of UN Global Compact Czechia met to celebrate second birthday of UN Global Compact in the Czech Republic, elect new steering committee and plan activitiesaimed at SDGs for 2017 and 2018. Present members unanimously voted in favour of the new committee composed of the following business and non-business representatives. Business representatives: Richard Branton (MSD Information Technology), Adriana Dergam (Vodafone Czech Republic), Martina Kemrová (T-Mobile Czech Republic), Vladimír Mikel (ROSSMANN), Lenka Neuvirtová (Deloitte). Non-business representatives: Karel Havlíček (AMSP ČR), Petr Lebeda (Glopolis), Lucie Mádlová (A-CSR), Karel Škácha (NFPK).

The Czech SDGs Awards raise awareness about Global Goals and why they matter to the world and Czechia. The raising awareness campaign took place mainly online and culminated with an award ceremony celebrating first projects aimed at SDGs from companies and public institutions in the Czech Republic, with a keynote speech from the SDG Advocate Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs. With its scope and number of stakeholders involved, this is the biggest public private partnership project addressing the SDGs that has so far taken place in Czechia.
In cooperation with Deloitte, we organized a workshop to address the new EU Directive on non- nancial reporting. The participants had a unique opportunity to discuss new reporting trends, take part in practical exercises and understand best practices in non- nancial reporting. The workshop was facilitated by an international team from Deloitte.
How to implement sustainable business at all company levels? How to communicate sustainability, both internally and externally? Can we connect global agenda with local challenges? These are just some of the questions members of the Global Compact Czech Republic discussed with representatives from Czech and Spanish Vodafone during the workshop at Vodafone Czech Republic.
Our full day event brought opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing and new business opportunities among members of Global Compact Network Czechia and Association of Social Responsibility. In cooperation with representatives from the Government Of the Czech Republic, we discussed the local opportunities and challenges of implementing the new UN Agenda 2030 and SDGs.
One year ago, 25th September 2015, during the UN Summit on sustainable development in New York, 193 member states officially accepted Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To celebrate the first year of Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Compact Network Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Quality Council of the Czech Republic and the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development, publishes unique publication SDGs Compass, a guide to sustainable development aligned with the global goals.
